Window treatments - a mincingly awful phrase I constantly battle against.
Window treatments are to curtains what plant material is to plants. If you don't love the medium, leave it alone. That comes from both a fabric obsessive compulsive and a gardener who loves her plants. Caroline Clifton-Mogg was in my early downward trajectory of curtain obsession. Still love it.
I love everything by Caroline Clifton-Mogg. She's the only one I would trust to write a book like French Country Living.
Yes, the dreaded "window treatment"
Always sounds like something out of a Victorian hospital for the decoratively insane.
Window treatments grates about as much as when people say "passed away" in referring to someone's death. Why the euphemism?
but isn't window treatments a generic catch-all term to cover ANYTHING- curtains, shades, blinds, film, shutters, screens- that would go in front of, or around a window? not that i use the phrase, but just sayin'. ;-)
what really irks me is "draperies" instead of "curtains". it is both trashy and pretentious at the same time, like referring to your grandparents as grand-mére and grand-pére if you aren't french. ick.
Hahaha! Call me pretentious, trashy and decoratively insane...But I will gladly change my ways. Curtains it is! But I DO agree there is a huge hole in my library waiting for decent "Curtain" inspiration. Thank you for the resource. Much apprecaited.
