In Xanadu...

did Kubla Khan a stately pleasure-dome decree...

Receipt for an unashamedly pretty Dining Room:
George III Chinoiserie bookcase cabinet
An Italian porcelain and bronze lantern - just that bit chicer than a chandelier
A pair of Jansen corner cabinets
An ebonized Directoire table
Painted Directoire style chairs covered in John Boyd's Ermine-black horsehair
All set against Zuber's Hindustan panoramic paper
Some London blinds in shrimp linen to complement the perfect antique Savonnerie or Ax minster carpet you will spend the next three years looking for
Soft chalky whites for the woodwork and a pale shrimp glazed ceiling, and voila!

All furniture from Kamelot Auctions

Don't they have great knees?

Me too, I love the Directoire style chairs. Chairs are like shoes, I want so many sets of them. One day, I'd like to have a warehouse filled with gorgeous chairs.

I was already in heaven - then the pale shrimp glazed ceiling sent me over the edge. Wonderful.

An absolutely perfect receipt, I think (there simply aren't enough deliriously pretty rooms in the world). Masses of sharp-pink peonies definitely are required, though. Or would that tip the balance?

Only if they are in season - a little lesson learned in Japan that still holds relevance.

Simply gorgeous dahling!

ok, those corner cabinets are stunning- what did they go for do you know, just curious. but of course you have to have the house that could house such treasures.

You're so funny! spend three years looking for the right rug, how true!!!

love you,
Joni
