You always have just the right touch of mirth.
Seeing Fran huddled on the sill with a smoke reminded me of an incident a long time ago when I was living on the upper west side and had an out-of-town guest with a cigarette habit. I had strict rules on such matters as in a 'No Smoking' policy. Neither of us was inclined to go outside (it was fifteen degrees) so the poor woman was hanging out the window with a drink in one hand, cigarette in the other.
