The final curtain

Bea Arthur (1922-2009) in a scene from an episode of Maude. Quite possibly one of the most memorable moments in television history.

i remember being very little yet feeling so adult watching maude. (though looking back- how did she have an abortion? wasn't she well past child-bearing age?).

in honor of ms. arthur, i may even watch the dreaded lucille ball version of mame, just to see her as vera charles.

M - still one of the best shows ever. Surely, even when very little you were still watching reruns? I know I was.)

I'd never seen much of Maude -but this was surely one of the best pieces of acting on any sitcom ever. Maybe some epi's of Mash were comparable - but certainly nothing these days. Thanks for posting such a gem.
