A French tortoiseshell and specimen stone oblong snuff box.
The central oval aggregate and banded agate and lapis lazuli spandrel roundels in chased laurel mounts, 8.5cm wide, circa 1820.

I just got to play with a 19th cent. French tortoiseshell snuff box. Even the hinge was carved from the stuff. It was a delight to hold. The cowrie shell is a marvel. I can't imagine what it would do to the line of my suit, though.
