A conscious, and unfortunately laboured, attempt to incorporate disparate elements for a fantasy in Paris's 9th arrondissement . La fantaisie l'Empier, l'esprit retour d'Afrique et les pastiches neo-classiques. Photographed by Joel Laiter, for Elle Decoration, January/February 2002 (France).

But it was so comfortable to visit. And the purple was so beautiful.
AL - I was afraid you would say something like that. I wanted to like it, but instead it just irritated me.
It i s laboured but achieves a degree of mystery in these photographs. Donnez-mois the mauve- blush striped wall paper please.
Hmm.. I see your point, but I still love the seperate elements standing alone. Love your blog, you have such a fabulous eye!

If the tour had stopped after the first two photos with their saggy shelves & seatless chair, I'd be totally charmed, but the stagy "disarray" of that open cabinet in the next shot dispelled the Satis House mood in a hurry. How may hours must he have fussed with that stuff to get just the right effect, and then failed anyway? Oh, well, nobody hits a homer every time at bat. Certainly I don't.
I'll be honestly bold...I love it. I find it very sexy, but lighting might have much to do with it.
