Abraham Ortelius (1527 – 1598), the Flemish cartographer and geographer, is generally recognised as the creator of the first modern atlas.

Nothing like a beautiful old map!
love old maps- have one that I bid on at an auction- and found it to be lacking- but did some creative paper, matting and framing and enjoy seeing it everyday. you may just have inspired a post! thanks.
