The other highlight of the London Season...

is the Olympia International Art & Antiques Fair. For ten days this is where the great and the good (and a few of the ghastly and the venal) of the antiques world congregate.
Here are a few of my favourite dealers:

A selection of current stock including furniture, mirrors and gardenware.
M. Charpentier

Treen
David Levi

Fine 20th Century furniture, lighting, and objet d'art.
Gordon Watson Ltd

Charming and quirky mix of the unusual.
Palmer Antiques

Gio Ponti. Writing table in walnut
Designed by Ponti for the Banco Nationale del Lavoro in Itlay
Circa 1953
Philip Thomas

Fine kitchen and advertising antiques.
Smithson Antiques

A Scottish granite centre table, Circa 1850
Westenholz Steenberg

That granite center table is absolutely beautiful. And utterly spare.

It is simply perfect.

I think we three should open a design business together ... we are so likeminded ...

I love the treen. Some of it's so awful, but this is lovely.

Fairfax - he is one of the best dealers. I normally am not drawn to it, but he always has something interesting.

I want to be in the business too!! I was going to say something about the table. Not fair! :( you are stinkers.

HOBAC - this show is such a cut above the shows we have here. It looks so wonderful - will you be showing more???

Cd'T - not until after the end. I'll show some of the stands. Some are really spectacular.

Thanks for the post. I went to Olympia last week and really enjoyed it.

Unlike past years, it was sparsely attended. While contemporary art seems to be continuing it's logic-defying prices, I wonder if traditional Olympia buyers will hold on to their money until the economy here and in the States has improved.

I put up my own reaction and photos of the fair at www.beardedroman.com.

Thanks for your post.
