Not one of my icons, but I do find her curiously interesting. Prince Edward, Duke of Windsor and the Duchess of Windsor discuss their first meeting.
And, her canary dress against the red sofa and green lampshade is just too captivating.

Love her rather flat accent, not unpleasant, just rather flat. One must admit the smartness of her appearance. Nothing else, mind you, but the smartness, the perfect presentation, is infectious.
What an upstart that American! I have to say I have always admired her discipline in dress, deportment, making the best of assets- and all of that and this.It was a marriage of 2 rare birds preening in front of their his and hers mirrors. Don't you think though he must have been an ultimate disappointment to her? G
I have always felt that she would be my last choice as someone to read me a bedtime story.
I like men who like strong women. There are not a lot of men who would be attracted to a woman because she is the most independent one he has ever met. Most are fearful or confused.
The famous palmist and astrologer Cheiro had predicted in one of his books around 1923 that David, the future Edward VIII, could very well dump the throne for love.
not looking her best, banal. wow. too funny. this is sooooo wonderful!!!!!!!! i've always thought he was one of the better looking men in the royal family.
omg I watched the Decorator - never heard of that before - that's Gladys Kravitz from Bewitched! love this!
CdT - great television, no? Mrs Kravitz was originally played by Alice Pearce (who died 2 seasons in). This is Mary Wickes who was an incredible character actress - one of her last roles was in Sister Act.
I once read that they became bored with each other later and to appear to be talking they would count out loud. Also that she required, how shall I put it?... WC paper, called TP on this side of the Atlantic,to be torn from the roll and stacked on a platter... they have always seemed somewhat sad; in the end I do wonder if he thought she was worth it.........
K - your comment was surreal, when I thought it was about La MacLaine and Michael Caine. Here it makes perfect sense.)
funny, I'm a bit behind but always interested to see what you've come up with to post
