It's not too early to start planning for cold dishes. If I may suggest one of our favourites Vitello Tonnato, chilled veal with a tuna sauce. It is one of the Italian summer classics.

I cant wait to do this one. one of my native new yorker friends now age 94 makes it every summer, Maybe its my turn. always love your postings. G.
I consider myself quite a foodie...but this dish has always frightened me a bit. I'll have to try it eventually.
J - if it is the veal you are unsure of Nigella Lawson does it with turkey. Personally, I'm not convinced.
It's the tuna sauce. I love tuna, but for some reason, saucy tuna sounds icky.
J - oh, it is more a loose mayonnaise than a sauce.
Next time I see it on a menu, I will give it a try. I'm courageous if nothing else!
