Have a gander









at Gander International Airport. Now, the forgotten airport, but once the centre of transatlantic travel. The terminal, a design masterpiece that showcased the best of Canadian design, was officially opened by HRM Queen Elizabeth II in 1959.

It still looks very sleek and beautiful. I'd buy a roundtrip ticket just to see it.

Those were the days... when airport design could be quite interesting and cutting edge. Now, the newish ones all look the same- boring!

I think that Gander was one of the places planes had to put down on 9/11. The people of Newfoundland were very hospitable to all of those were stranded there when there was a no-fly zone over the US.
