The 80s through a rose tinted lens

The Line of Beauty (2006), the three part adaptation of Alan Hollinghurst's Booker Prize winning novel.
Oh, if it had only really looked like that. So pristine and perfect.

My Beautiful Laundrette (1985), directed by Stephen Frears and written by Hanif Kureshi.
Lest we forget what it was really like.

My Beautiful Laudrette was such a great movie. Daniel Day Lewis is a fabulous actor.

At the theatre to see "St. Elmo's Fire", I found myself seated next to the largest, scariest, furriest, tatooed biker you can imagine. During the movie, the Brat Packers pull up to the mythical St. Elmo's Bar, park and pile into the restaurant. At that point, the biker bellows "They found parking directly outside a bar in Georgetown? This is FICTION, man, FICTION."

My look of fear at the shout was hidden by my half-tinted, rose coloured spectacles.
