My Dears,

El Gordo Single Tassel

Evidently, we are meant to be having a big tassel debate. Fascinating.
So, let's have at it. I say yes. What do you say?

Oh, I could definitely find a place for it.

you are stirring up trouble!

ok - I like tassels in certain applications! of course!

the curtains would have be so lusciously full and gathered but long enough so that when gathered they don't go all short and all. like a pair of trousers that aren't tailored properly.

What about fringe? want to discuss that too?

Tassels & passementeries are like lucious confections & I love them.
But I don't think the big elaborate ones work unless they are used within a certain type of space with a formal Jaques Garcia-style decor, in an old home with very tall windows & big, fancy window treatments. Otherwise, they also look good attached to a furniture key hanging from an antique secretary or chest of drawers, tho maybe not this Gordo one.

Well I got skewered for my post on tassels! Do I use them in my home? No, b/c they just won't work. But in the right room- yes, they can be divine. I also admire the craftsmanship of well-made tassels. So I guess I'm saying... long live the tassel.

I grew up with sort of midsized (I guess) tassels hanging from the keys in the armoires, sometimes around curtains, and always on the bell pull. I like them. Especially the way that they collapse when you bring the back of your hand up underneath them. Hours of grammar school fun.
