A perfect example of how it is not just about lamps and cushions

In Episode 3 of Top Design, five design teams are asked to create window displays for five different fashion designers. Fairly simple and straight forward. That is, if the designers are able to share a common frame of reference, or at the very least be able to interpret an abstract concept. This is where everything becomes interrelated and relevant.

Since I am th eonly person in America without cable, I hadn't seen any of this season's TD. You're right about understanding and carrying out the client's vision... I deal with that issues with designers I use and am struggling with it now.

fairfax - you can watch it on youtube; which is how I can keep up with some of the US shows.

House... and likewise. I just finished watching this season of Dr. Who on You Tube. I became addicted to it when I watched them filming it all over Cardiff and for some reason, they especially liked our 'hood. My old car is even in one scene!

I love Top Design and was horrified watching this episode. I thought it was a great challenge and the majority of them just really screwed it up and squandered a chance to do amazing things.

I was screaming at the TV when those two had no idea what "Blade Runner" was. I understand I'm a film geek but even if I had never seen or heard of that movie I would hope that if I was a designer the two words Blade and Runner put together wouldn't make me think of or suggest the use of the rococo look.

stljoie - Kerry. He was such a gentleman about the whole thing. It was unfair, but his own fault. Not only would have I thrown Wisit under the bus, I would have been driving it as well.

cupcake - it was so frustrating. I must admit I think of Blade Runner as neo-baroque as well but in a broken doll, post apocalypse way.

That was the point I was trying to make. Some think of certain things as not decor related. I think that anything can be a part of one's visual vocabulary. Even abstract concepts.
