Other than, I find the current vogue for flooding the airwaves with disaster and horror films during the holidays completely unacceptable. I want happy. These make me happy, if not on the box then at the very least on the turntable. Crackling away in all their vinyl splendour. One would think that by now they would have found a way to build nostalgia into a CD. After all, turntables and all the paraphernalia do take up quite a bit of room.

I so agree -these films are all fabulous. I went to see what I thought would be a fun holiday movie '4 christmases' - but it was the most depressing, most awful movie I've ever seen!!!
Oh my dear! What a feast — I can't hold a tune but I know the lyrics to every Rogers & Hammerstein song ever written to say nothing of Rogers & Hart!
Here's my holiday movie suggestion: I Know Where I'm Going
I agree with your selections and have enjoyed them all countless times... in particular The King and I ..I prefer to pretend that Deborah Kerr did do the singing.. enjoy
Ms. W - Oh I just love Wendy Hiller. I dream of having my own Hunter one day. I am going to watch this over the New Year break. Thanks for the happy.
AD - I shall consider myself warned and proceed accordingly. Though, I have no intention of venturing into a cinema until the little darlings are all back at school.
i loved everything Rodgers and Hammerstein
I also like My Fair Lady and The Sound of Music for good holiday films.
I had these recordings when I was little and would sing along ad nauseum. Also Gilbert and Sullivan, I am sorry to report.
But I do so agree with Ms Wis...
I Know Where I'm Going is pure heaven!! And Wendy Hiller...what glorious cheekbones.
Oh, my, you are insane, aren't you! (In a way which we can totally relate to!!!) Happy New Year!!!
Thombeau - quite..;-)
