The V.I.P.s (1963), featuring Richard Burton, Elizabeth Taylor, Louis Jourdan, Elsa Martinelli, Maggie Smith, Rod Taylor, Orson Welles and Margaret Rutherford. Margaret Rutherford won both the Academy Award and the Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress for her role as the Duchess of Brighton.
A wonderful film for so many reasons, not least of all because it chronicles a time when travel still had an air of romance.

i love richard burton, will have to check this out
That looks like a lot of fun...
I wish people still dressed to travel. When I came over, there was some dude on the plane in running shorts, a t-shirt and running shoes. I would have frozen!
I have always allowed myself several Margaret Rutherford days every month.
Thanks for posting 'The Jet Set.'
Perhaps you'll enjoy John Prine and Iris Dement singing 'We're Not the Jet Set.'

I LOVE that John Prine song!
Isn't it fun!
KO - thanks for the tip. Fabulous.
You're welcome, HOBAC.
The "We're Not the Jet Set" lyrics were written by Bobby Braddock. The song was a hit in the 70s for George Jones & Tammy Wynnette.
Here's the George & Tammy version

Since you liked the John Prine and Iris DeMent "We're Not the Jet Set," you might enjoy them on John Prine's 'In Spite of Ourselves."

Iris is an Arkansas angel.
If you haven't heard John Prine's great song, "Paradise," in a while, here's the link.

And still in an environmental vein, here's Florida's own Grant Peeples singing "Sunshine State:"

This is a great film. Alas, I only own it in VHS format and the player is looking a little tired... I hope they release it on DvD. If only for the title alone... doesn't that phrase conjure an image?
P-D, you're singing my song. I have recently discovered silp-on, elastic vamp brogues that have helped matters somewhat... I think that all duty-frees should have a shop called "The Elegant Traveler."
E&EL - if you click on the title it links to the dvd on Amazon.
Hoorah! Thanks HOBAC!
