These items make me very happy. Though I think I could live without the jardinière. Something quite parvenu about it (of course, which is fitting, considering the emperor of the day) ...

Still doesn't do it for me! None of its brass ornaments seem to flow in any way ... they just seem stuck on willy-nilly, with no relationships ... argh ...

AL - dreadful, no? It would only look great with a fern cascading down (covering the offending bits).

I'm not a fan of Victorian furniture, in English, or French sadly. And these prove it. Too frou-frou. Now Napoleon (I) is another matter, but I suppose that's not surprising as he was nearly Georgian, (in English).

I like very much Napoléon III antiques and it is I've just bought an entire Napoléon III real estate . There are some beautiful pieces, I may right a post about it and take photos to share
