French Onion Soup. Delia Smith does it best. Though she seems to have left out the sprig of fresh thyme and the bay leaf.
Ovenproof soup bowls are essential for the grilling stage.

I wish these came a bit smaller. Williams-Sonoma had them in the same size. 12 oz. is a lot of soup (although I am actually wanting to use them as planters for herbs on the kitchen windowsill). Please do let me know if you run across some.
M - they must come smaller. I'll see if I can find a supplier in the US.
